When it comes to personal care products, deodorant is a daily essential—but have you ever stopped to think about what’s actually in it?
Many store-bought deodorants contain harsh chemicals like aluminum, parabens, and synthetic fragrances that can irritate your skin or even pose long-term health risks. That’s where DIY deodorant comes in!
Making your own deodorant is not only incredibly simple but also a healthier, eco-friendly alternative to store-bought options. By creating your own, you can customize the ingredients to suit your skin type, avoid potentially harmful additives, and reduce waste with reusable packaging. Plus, natural deodorants are kinder to your skin, offering effective odor protection while nourishing with ingredients like coconut oil, baking soda, and essential oils.
Ready to make the switch? Let’s dive into this easy DIY recipe that will leave you feeling fresh and confident all day long—without compromising your health or the planet! This recipe makes enough for two small jars of deodorant and takes just 10 minutes to prepare
List of Ingredients
1/3 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Cornstarch
1/4 Cup Baking Soda
10-20 drops of essential oil(s) of your choice, I use peppermint and orange oils.
Cardboard Deodorant Container (Optional)
Step 1: Let’s Get Started
Heat the 1/3 cup of coconut oil on the stove on low.
Step 2: Stir the Mixture
Once the coconut oil has melted into a clear liquid, slowly begin stirring the cornstarch and baking soda into the mixture.
Step 3: Remove from the Heat
Remove the mixture from heat and immediately transfer to a heat-safe container (I use a small mason jar but you can also let it cool slightly then transfer to a cardboard deodorant container).
Step 4: Add Essential Oils
Add in your essential oils and then allow the mixture to cool and solidify.
And there you have it—your very own all-natural DIY deodorant! Not only is it effective and gentle on your skin, but it’s also a small but impactful step toward living a more sustainable and toxin-free lifestyle. Whether you’re new to DIY or a seasoned pro, this recipe is a great way to take control of what you put on your body. Try it out, and let us know how it works for you in the comments below. Your skin (and the planet) will thank you!
