There's a particular kind of soft that people pay a lot for.
Barefoot Dreams made it famous with a throw that feels like the inside of a cloud. UGG made it wearable with slippers that somehow became an outfit. Both are lovely, and both have price tags that make you want to think about it for a week.

1. The Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw
The original: Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw in Oyster, $77.75 when we checked, 51% off. The Cream was $105 (34% off) with only a few left.
The CozyChic throw is a dense, heavy microfiber knit, about 54 by 72 inches. It feels plush without being slippery, and it holds its softness wash after wash. That last part is what people are really paying for. Plenty of blankets feel wonderful in the store and go stiff by February.
Before you buy a dupe: at $77.75, the Oyster colorway is about half its usual price. If you've wanted the real one for years, this is the moment. Colorways go on and off sale independently, so if Oyster isn't your color, check the others.

The upgrade nobody asks about: the Bedsure GentleSoft Heated Throw ($41.99, 41% off) has a soft ribbed flannel finish and a heater. The original doesn't come with one. It's the right choice for a cold house, a drafty reading corner, or someone who's always cold.
Style tip: one plush throw looks like you left it there. Three looks like a store display. Drape one over the arm of the sofa, fold another at the foot of the bed, and stop there. Pair it with a ribbed texture rather than a second plush one, so the two don't blur together.
2. The Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite Cardigan

The budget pick: DB MOON Long Lightweight Cardigan, $19.99. It's longer and lighter, in a thinner knit. It's more of a layering piece than a hug, which makes it a good fall-into-winter transition cardigan.
What's different: the original is known for a substantial fabric that holds its drape over time, and that's what the price buys. Budget knits tend to feel soft out of the package and thin out faster, so read the recent reviews for how they wash.
3. UGG Tasman II
The original: UGG Women's Tasman II, $129.95.
The Tasman is a suede slipper with an embroidered collar and a plush lining, on a sole firm enough to wear outside for coffee. That sole is the whole trick. It's the slipper that turned into a shoe, and the reason people wear them to the grocery store.
The closest dupe: Genuine Suede Fuzzy Slippers, $39.59. It has a real suede upper, fleece lining and an outdoor sole. It doesn't have the braided collar, but it's the same silhouette and material.
The budget pick: Genuine Suede Memory Foam Slippers, $17.99 (33% off). This one is also real suede, with a memory-foam footbed. It's more of an indoor slipper, and it's hard to beat for the price.
What's different: UGG's linings are wool-based, and the dupes use polyester fleece or faux fur. Wool breathes, so your feet don't overheat. Fleece is warm to start and less breathable. If your feet run hot, that's the one thing worth paying for.
4. UGG Tazz II
The original: UGG Women's Tazz II, $149.95.
The Tazz is the Tasman on a platform. It's the same idea with an inch or so of height, which is somehow what made it the most-wanted slipper of the last few winters.
The closest dupe: Project Cloud Genuine Leather Platform Slippers, $49.90 (17% off). It has a real leather upper and a proper platform sole, which puts it closest to the original on materials.
The budget pick: Fuzzy Platform Slippers, $19.99 (33% off). It's a softer, fuzzier take on the shape. It's cute around the house, though less convincing as an outside shoe.
Style tip: platform slippers look best with something slightly cropped: a wide-leg jogger or a straight-leg pant that stops at the ankle. If you want the full lounge look for less, the Vuori jogger dupes are a good place to start.
5. The Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Robe

Take the famous throw and turn it into a robe, and you get this one. It's heavy, plush and ankle-skimming, a very specific kind of Sunday morning.

The budget pick: Yurhap Fleece Robe, $19.99 (20% off). It's a little shorter and lighter, and very well reviewed.
If you run warm: skip plush entirely and get the Amazon Essentials Waffle Robe ($21.40). It's the lightweight robe that works after a shower in any season.
6. The small thing that makes the biggest difference
Barefoot Dreams makes socks too. Their appeal is simple: fuzzy socks with grips, so you can pad around a wood floor without sliding.

How to tell a good cozy dupe from a bad one
Check the fabric weight, not just the photos. "Plush" in a listing photo can mean anything. Reviews that mention weight, pilling, or how it held up after washing are the ones to read.
Look for real suede. On slipper dupes, "genuine suede" is the single biggest quality marker. Faux suede scuffs and flattens fast.
Wash cold, dry low. This is true of the originals too. High heat is what makes microfiber go stiff and matted.
Sort reviews by most recent. Listings change manufacturers. The reviews from last month tell you what's shipping now.
