Cozy Up with These Must-Read Books for Fall: Perfect Picks for the Season

Updated: Nov 22, 2024

There’s nothing I love more than getting lost in a good book, whether it’s about flowers, spirituality, or a classic mystery.

As a busy mom of two and a business owner, finding time to read used to feel almost impossible. But lately, audiobooks have become my go-to, allowing me to enjoy so many books throughout the day—whether I’m cleaning, doing laundry, gardening, or running errands. While audiobooks are an incredible way to make time for reading, I still have a special place in my heart for holding a beautiful book in my hands and savoring its pages.

Here are a few books that have recently captured both my heart and my imagination. P.S If you're an audiobook fan like me you can sign up for a free trial of audible and access most of the books I mention below!

eat pray love book

Yes, this book has been around for a while—and there’s even a movie (which I haven’t seen yet!). But this book has entered my life at just the right time, and I can’t stop recommending it to friends. I’d always wanted to read it, but it’s a bit long, so I decided to try the audiobook. Now, I’m already halfway through the 13-hour journey, and it’s been so worth it. Hearing the story in Elizabeth Gilbert’s own voice adds so much, especially since it’s her personal story of spiritual growth as she travels through Italy, India, and Indonesia.

Elizabeth Gilbert has been a steady presence in my life for years. I first came across her online TedTalk speech a few years back (Success, failure and the drive to keep creating), and I was amazed by her wisdom and her incredible way with words. Later, she was a guest on one of my favorite podcasts, The Tim Ferriss Show/ Recently, she reappeared on Tim’s show (Episode #770: Elizabeth Gilbert — How to Set Strong Boundaries, Overcome Purpose Anxiety, and Find Your Deep Inner Voice), and that was the push I needed to finally dive into Eat Pray Love. It’s inspiring, heartwarming, and full of insight. I hope you’ll check it out, too!

If you want to learn more about Elizabeth I encourage you to check out her "Letters From Love" Substack.

women who run with the wolves book

This book has been around for a while and has earned its status as a cult classic in feminist literature. I’m on my second read, and each time I revisit it, I uncover new insights—about both myself and the beautifully woven words on each page.

Women Who Run With The Wolves dives deep into the “wild woman” archetype, exploring it through fairy tales and myths that urge women to reconnect with the powerful, intuitive parts of themselves that society often represses. It’s a captivating invitation to reclaim hidden strengths and embrace the untamed aspects within us. If you’re looking for a transformative read, this is one you’ll want to keep coming back to.

If you’re craving a gripping mystery that keeps you guessing, First Lie Wins is the perfect pick! Featured as a must-read on Reese’s Book Club, this book twists and turns in all the right ways.

The story follows a sharp-witted con artist who makes a living by exposing other people’s secrets—but when she partners with a mysterious client on her latest job, the lies begin to spiral out of control. As the stakes rise and deception runs deep, she finds herself questioning who she can truly trust…including herself.

The Cliffs Book

A friend recently recommended The Cliffs by J. Courtney, and it’s quickly become one of the most compelling books I’ve read this season. This poignant and beautifully written novel explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery against the backdrop of stunning coastal landscapes.

J. Courtney's vivid storytelling makes it impossible to put down—each chapter feels like a wave pulling you deeper into the characters’ lives. Whether you’re curled up on the couch or looking for a heartfelt book to take on your next getaway, The Cliffs is an absolute must-read. It also makes a thoughtful gift for the book lovers in your life.

This book has been a beautiful and thought-provoking addition to my collection. Braiding Sweetgrass weaves together Indigenous wisdom, scientific knowledge, and the teachings of plants in a way that feels both poetic and profoundly insightful. Through Kimmerer’s storytelling, I’m reminded of the deep connection between people and nature and inspired to bring more mindfulness into my daily life. This book isn’t just for nature lovers—it's a grounding read for anyone interested in living in harmony with the world around us.

You can find all these fantastic reads on Amazon or Audible. Enjoy diving into your next great book!
